Signs were posted up our long driveway to beware of the T-Rex, or Stegosaurus Crossing… Ominous T-rex footprints lead the way to the door… Chalk prints of dinos littered the entryway… Ducking under swirling ivy (green streamers) to enter the house guests were greeted with a mix of dinosaur-themed songs. Dinosaur coloring books, crafts, tattoos awaited children as we waited for everyone to arrive…

My dad had just finished building our playset outside, so kids of all ages loved swinging, climbing, sliding. I love how blissfully content Peyton looks while swinging.

This little guy was the cutest little bear last Halloween!

Elise and Aiden were inseparable throughout the whole party!

Kailey looks ecstatic to be swinging!

Satori couldn’t wait for her preschool friend Cassidy to come!

After everyone had a chance to grab a drink and snack, we took a few groups at a time to venture out in the woods and look for treasures (a fun intro to geocaching)! We found Dino Rock, a nest of baby dinos, and a barrel of pterodactyls.

The pinnacle of the party was the Dino Dig! Two plastic pools were setup full of sand and the children all had pails, shovels, sifters and brushes to dig for dinos!

I heard the party grow very silent as the kids concentrated on digging and their parents watched… Puncuated by cries of “I found a dinosaur!”

Next was a water game of scooping up fishes and throwing in pellets that grew into dinosaurs.

Well, the pellets grew in only warm water, so luckily my dad got the idea to bring out the warm pail of water…

And finally, dinosaurs. :)

For dinner we grilled out Dino Dogs (brats, hot dogs, and tofu dogs). I also made my Trilobite Cookies, but they went extinct so fast that David (my husband) never even got a chance to eat one!  The little ones loved picking out the little creatures with the prettiest eyes (colorful hearts, butterflies and flowers). (This photo is from my first batch made back in May.)

We had a Fossil Excavation Station setup for the older kids. They donned goggles/sunglasses and chipped away, dirt was flying everywhere! We uncovered a Triceratops and a T-rex. :)

Satori worked with Mary-Jeanne, and Elise worked with Aiden. Good thing for those goggles (I keep typing googles, hehe.)

I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I was pretty busy organizing the events for the kids. The time went by fast and people all had a great time, saying I should host dinosaur parties. :) We had so much fun we didn’t even get to some events, but that is okay, we did all the fun and creative ones.

My parents were absolute lifesavers for the party. My mom got all the food ready, helped me with the cookies, basically took total care of the kitchen. My dad spent 12 hours building the playset, as well as helped with the grilling. David helped here and there. :)

Thank you everyone for coming!!! We will hold a mini-dino party in a few weeks for some of Satori’s friends who couldn’t make it on this day, so maybe I’ll get better pictures then. :)
