Beautiful globe. We recently purchased a raised-relief gyromatic globe for Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding and we love it (the globe and the curriculum).

I recently read LCC and was a bit disappointed. We use mostly WTM with a bit of CM, and I was looking for the 'real' classical education. I didn't find it in LCC. :) I came away with a stronger desire to include Latin and even Greek, and to reduce slightly what we do (I cut out spelling [for now] and drawing), but mostly it made me realise that what we're doing is great for us.

We used the Rand McNally Beginner Geography 3 months ago and it was a nice intro. Just got the book Children Just Like Me. While I think we'll be okay on the geography workbooks, that blog site does look cool!

Satori gets countries and states (even cities) mixed up. So excited to learn this all more officially.

We did FIAR last spring and Satori remembers all the countries we studied in those books. We used a push-pin on a map, as well as putting up little story discs on our laminated map. It was a great introduction. Now, I can't wait to really get into all this. Yep, I love learning along with my daughter.

My daughter has completed a number of pin punch continent maps in her montessori school...and let me tell you, she can tell you the names of almost every country on the continents she's completed. I really think the amount of time she spent outlining, pin punching every single country, labeling then and placing on a map has "sealed" into her mind. When the earthquake of Chile occured, she told me which continent it was on and it's neighboring countries. Sadly, I couldn't even do that from memory.
