Have we told you what one of our current favorite websites is? A wonderful learning resource, and to top it off – its free! Last week we started visiting starfall.com, a website that helps kids learn to read. I would have Satori play with the letters and sounds while I’d cook dinner, so every few days, she’d fire up that website for a few minutes. Tonight I asked her if she wanted to play again, but she said she already played all the letters. So I said, if that is true, it’s time to head to the reading section!

We opened up the “Reading” section tonight for the first time, just the basic word section. To my surprise, Satori actually did a pretty good job with the word games! Starfall presented everything in such an easy and intuitive format, it was just a matter of sounding out the letters presented to fill in the words. I have other resources I plan to use to help Satori learn to read, and so we’ll probably start those in the next few weeks. I don’t want to push her to start reading, as she’s only 4, but if she wants to, I will help.
