Kristina,
I'm happy that I've been able to help you. The WTM book is great, I read it every year. We don't do everything it says to a tee, but it's been the most important influence in our homeschooling experience. The forums are even more helpful!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey! Your posts and curriculum enabled me to create my own and to figure out what method we would like to follow. I went out a read The Well Trained Mind right after I found your blog!

Thank you again!

Megan,
So cool, we must have similar tastes! :) Curriculum picking is great fun for me. I try to pick ones that are fun yet very effective.

I am about a year behind you, and since for the subjects that I have already researched I picked the EXACT same curriculums, I have decided I might just save myself some time and copy you on the rest as our tastes are obviously similar! Thanks so much for sharing!

We try to do 2-3 of the important subjects (3 R's) about 20 minutes a day. Science or history we cover 1-2x a week. I try to keep our lessons under 1.5 hours each day, and especially try to keep the sit-down study/learn ones an hour or less.

I'm still new at all this and still figuring out what might work though! This is only our first week doing kindergarten. :) I already think I'm going to just focus on one math curriculum now, 3 is too much, lol!

As for RightStart vs Math-U-See... RightStart is so much more fun than MUS. I really think RightStart is the one for our particular family, I only have one child right now, and am willing to put forth the time and effort for a creative program that covers many concepts. Plus, I think out of all the math programs I looked into (MUS, Singapore, RS, Miquon, MEP), RightStart will help her think mathematically the best. MUS is popular, and she learned alot this spring/summer that we used it, but I guess neither of us could stand it anymore. Singapore is also great, but harder to teach than RightStart. I'm hoping to keep the Singapore workbooks around to do a few pages a week for practice on any related topics, and to use our MUS Primer/Alpha DVDs for another way to think of things when we get to new topics.

Hi! I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed reading through your curriculum plans. They are so well thought out and detailed. I am starting Kindergarten with my son this year and I have very similar plans to yours. I am mixing in Sonlight P 4/5, but I plan to follow the "classical" style as well. I haven't picked out a math program yet, so I was very interested in your comparison of Rightstart and Math U See as those are the 2 I am trying to choose between. I am going to continue using Singapore Math as a supplement with whatever I choose. I also have looked at All about spelling - it looks so great! Thanks so much, I really enjoyed your blog!
