Oooo, i have had Jim Trelease's book for YEARS, it is great.

You know, even if you don't have an extra room to make a special reading place, you could find a corner of the living room or any room and decorate or furnish it. We have books everywhere and i was going to turn the front (unused) room into the "school" room but after seeing your pics i think i will just make it lively and inviting, especially for reading. My daugher LOVES to read, but when it comes to certain subjects i sometimes have to trick her to learn. I think having a room like this instead of a "school" room will help me with that. My son likes to read...for 5 minutes at a time, lol, maybe a seperate room just for reading will minimize distractions. i think i just need to ban him from computer games.

I looove this room! The colors, the shelves, everything. I've been reading your blog for a while now, but I come back often for inspiration & motivation. The other day I was re-visiting this page & my son saw it. He was immediately drawn to the computer with such an aw look on his face. He liked the shelves. We are planning his bedroom makeover now that he's a big boy (7yo) & I've been wanting to do the rain gutter thing. I'm glad to see that he wants it too. Thanks for sharing all your ideas & hard work.

Sincerely,
Danae@Believing Unbeliever

Oh, wow!! This is fantastic!! It just looks like a room I could spend hours in. I love the colors, the rain gutter bookshelves and the big window. SUCH a great idea with the bean bag chairs, too! I was going to move our school room to a sort of storage room area (out of convenience for our family), but now after seeing this beautiful space, I think it's worth "inconveniencing" our family a bit to really do our reading/school room right. I want it to be as inviting as this room. Thank you SO much for posting all these photos & your ideas! I want to check out that book, too!

I just readthat AMAZING book 2 weeks ago and have obsessed with the idea ever since. My boys bedroom is decorated with color-copies of excerpts of their favorite books (in IKEA frames) and I have the twine hanging with artwork. This room truely is inspiring. It's one of my goals to have a reading room in the future! thank you for sharing~
